Tails of Hope fundraiser for Santa Barbara County Animal Services, September 21, 2025 at Elings Park.  Organized by Lee Heller, MC'd by John Corbett and Bo Derek, attended by over 300 people and 100 volunteers, the event raised more than $200,000 for our local shelters and animal services.  

I met Lee Heller when I was serving as the Interim Public Health Director in 2017.  Animal Services is a division of Public Health and Lee wanted to share her advocacy and her many ideas for ways we could improve our operations.  We have since become good friends, and I have been impressed with her many activities and accomplishments.  Lee did a wonderful job of imagining and then creating this first-ever benefit for Santa Barbara County Animal Services. Yay Lee!
